Guests rave about the exceptional dining experience, where attentive service merges seamlessly with a warm atmosphere. If you’re visiting Madeira, dining at Favilla Restaurant is an absolute must. From start to finish, everything about our experience was exceptional—the service, the food, and the atmosphere. The staff were genuinely warm and attentive, making us feel welcome throughout the evening. As a lovely touch, we were offered complimentary caviar bread, cookies, and a taste of Madeira wine, which set the tone for a memorable meal. We chose the shrimp and octopus risotto, a chef’s recommendation, and it exceeded all expectations—beautifully prepared and full of flavour. This restaurant goes above and beyond in every way. If I could give it 10 stars, I would. A truly unforgettable dining experience in Madeira!
Had dinner here with my girlfriend twice. We enjoyed it very much. The service was fantastic, the workers did a amazing job to make us feel welcome. Good and fast service. The food was also very good I had a tenderloin steak myself witch was cooked to perfection and had some tasty pepper sauce to finish it off. Afterwards we had some dessert and that was also really good. Overall had a great time here and would recommend it to other people! Just take a look inside the door doesn’t do justice!
Had a really beautiful dinner at Favilla. We tried the seafood and lobster rice, the octopus risotto, T-bone steak, seafood soup, and shrimp salad. To drink we had a few bottles of Prosecco. The service was great. The only thing that required some seasoning was the seafood lobster rice, but a dash of salt and pepper did the trick. The octopus risotto was super cheesy and creamy. I really enjoyed it. Don’t forget the dessert, we tried a few and they were all delish.
At Favilla Restaurant in Madeira, we spent a truly magical evening. The dishes showcased the authentic flavors of the island, reimagined with a modern twist. Every bite was a perfect balance of tradition and creativity. The ambiance was elegant yet warm, and the service impeccable. A must-visit spot for anyone wanting to experience Madeira’s cuisine at its finest.
Nice restaurant for dinner while you visit Funchal. It’s baby friendly, the waitress is very nice and the service is outstanding. We chose seafood with rice to share for 2 persons and it was tasty. The portion was big enough at a good price. You receive a welcome appetizer which contains bread, butter and prosciutto. This makes the waiting time shorter, but be aware that this is included on the bill.
By far the best meal we have had in Madeira. The door on the street does not show how nice the restaurant is. The food is exceptional. Wonderful service. Pictures show slow cooked Lamb Shank, which is the best lamb shank I've every had and black cuttlefish and lobster risotto, which was also top drawer. Deserts were delicious. Going back tonight! Shame we stumbled on them at the end of our stay.
I’ve been to Favilla several times, and it never disappoints. This time, I started with the Favilla Shrimp and it was full of flavor and perfectly cooked ! followed by the Beef Wellington, which has easily become my absolute favorite dish here. The ambience is warm and elegant, making it a great place for both special occasions and casual dinners, and the service is consistently among the best I’ve experienced in Funchal. The quality is reflected in the price, and every bite feels worth it. For me, Favilla stands out as one of the very best restaurants in the city.
Lovely restaurant, the best food we tried in Funchal! Booked for Friday night but we had to change it to Saturday and they were very accommodating! Arrived to a lovely setting on the terrace and lovely bread and oils and amuse bouche. The menu is very well priced. I tried the fish soup which was lovely and my partner had the chicken samosas. I then had the cafe de paris tenderloin and partner had pork cheeks. Both were lovely. Menu had a lot of great choices! This restaurant has really thought about the small details such as plates and cutlery, it was all very nice and a lovely place to spend the evening. They flambé in front of your table and our creme brulee and crepes suzette was a wonderful finish to the evening. Special mention to the waiters and staff who were all lovely and very attentive! Thank you for a great meal on our last night in Funchal!
